What do the OTAs cost you — together?
Most independent hotels use more than one OTA, and each takes its own cut. Add up your monthly revenue through Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, and Agoda to see the total commission you pay in a year — and what you'd keep by taking those bookings direct.
The short answer
A property listed on several OTAs pays each one separately, so its real distribution cost is the combined commission across all of them, not any single platform's rate. Independent hotels commonly see somewhere around 15–20% per booking on each channel, which means a property splitting its volume across three or four marketplaces can be paying a blended rate on most of its revenue. The only line that reduces it is the share of bookings taken directly, where no commission applies.
Rates default to the midpoint of each platform’s publicly-known range — edit them and your revenue to match your property. Your real saving depends on how many bookings you move to direct.

How OTA commission adds up
Each OTA charges a commission on every booking — commonly 15–20% — and a property that lists on several pays that cut on each channel. So the real cost isn't one platform's rate; it's the combined commission across all of them, every month, for as long as the bookings keep coming through the middleman. Every booking you move to your own direct site is one that no OTA takes a cut of — which is exactly what this calculator is built to show.
